SJB are committed to the future of the construction industry and therefore we are involved with the CITB Apprenticeship scheme. We take on apprentices every year and see the majority through to the completion of their training. They are supervised and instructed by very experienced and skilled workers who ensure that they are developing the correct skills and attitude to progress within the building trade. Two of our apprentices, Marcus Wintle and Grant Richards, have gone on to be Welsh Apprentice of the Year. Both of these young boys have stayed with the company and are now thriving and enjoying their working life.
In order to contribute to local projects and to encourage the younger generation we have been involved with a variety of different events which help to promote construction as a career. We have worked with Careers Wales in Blaenau Gwent on projects, Construction Skills and also Keepmoat who recently ran an event called Keeping It Equal which encouraged girls to get involved in bricklaying. In addition to this, SJB Bricklaying Contractors is the proud sponsor of Treorchy Rugby Club, sponsoring every age team from the youngest right through to the first team.
